Kilkenny CentreThe Kilkenny project began as a parish effort to offer attractive accommodation to older local people who wished to remain as independent as possible.

Thirty chalets, mostly comprising single accommodation, were built around a central block. In this, provision was made for social and health care services and a small chapel also incorporated

.A large, modern kitchen and pleasant dining and sitting areas mean that residents and day-care members can avail of relaxed morning and afternoon tea and a four-course midday meal every day.

The sisters form a core community and co-ordinate the various health, social and personal services.

Friendship and care form the basis of the entire project and animate all its activities in promoting dignity and meaningful lives for those who have served Kilkenny well in the past

In their turn residents share their concern, hospitality, wisdom and wit with visitors, staff and volunteers, whether these are full or part-time.

The gardens and general ambiance form an oasis in the built-up heart of this busy parish in historic Kilkenny city.
